Our Stop off Visit to The Lincoln Center for Performing Arts NYC.

On one of our trips to New York City we stopped off at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, it gave off a captivating air and feel of art, culture, music, dance and performance. The complex has a spacious courtyard leading to various theatres alluring you in to enjoy a performance of your choice whether it be opera, ballet, orchestra, music venue, performing arts, a movie, high profile media event, exhibition, circus! dining, shopping etc.

Also the Lincoln Center is the home of the famous Juilliard School, from where many famous performers have graduated. The popular Film Fame made in 1980 and spin off TV series 'Fame' was also based on this high school for Performing Arts.

Put Bloomingdale's on your Visit List to New York City.

Bloomingdale's is a huge impressive store on the East Side of NYC. Worth a visit when in New York, the department store stocks a range of great items and in a good location not far from Central Park. This classic building has a lovely atmosphere and if you don't go to shop (which is very difficult) enjoy the experience!
There is even a mention of Bloomingdale's, in one of Bruce Springsteen's songs....."Ain't Good Enough For You".

Bubbles in Central Park, NYC.

Central Park in the heart of New York City has quite a few memory making scenes, a wonderful atmosphere is created by musicians busking and you'll probably catch a glimpse of a guy blowing giant rainbow bubbles, it's a really special place to visit.

Bryant Park a Haven in busy Midtown Manhattan.

Bryant Park is a small square at the back of the New York Public Library, it is a vibrant, relaxing, gathering place. We were there on a hot sunny day, around lunch time, surrounded by office workers, shoppers families and tourists, all stopping off for timeout on their busy day, to relax, eat, and mingle.
There is a big grass area in the centre of the square, with removable tables and chairs to place wherever you want on the gravel surrounding the grass. The perimeter is filled with well maintained and manicured gardens, attracting birds, butterflies and dragonflies.
There you are in the middle of Manhattan amidst traffic and the sound of the City looking up at skyscrapers but feeling tranquil.
Outside the restaurant live music is often performed adding so much pleasure to the atmosphere. I noticed a friendly security guard walking around keeping a watchful eye, event organisers busying themselves with details, park refuge guys emptying trash as it constantly built up.

Even the wash rooms are to be commended, the entrance has a beautiful floral display and the design of the interior has been well planned and very decorative, they are clean and well maintained.
All in all we loved our visit to Bryant Park and shall definitely return.

This is an old post on the blog, but I'm re-showing it and letting you know that you can catch up on news and events on Facebook.

Thankyou, Central Park Conservancy. NYC.

Central Park has been through some changes in its time. I was recently shocked to see on a TV programme that in the 1960's and 1970's the park looked very run down and dismal. I found it quite shocking and hard to believe after visiting New York City for the first time in 2013 and saw Central Park in all its glory. I fell in love with the wonderful scenery, flowers, trees, greenery, walkways, wildlife, water areas, bridges and community spirit, that is Central Park today.
All thanks to the Central Park Conservancy, a non profit company which have built up the park through the years since the 1980's and are continuing to maintain its high standard with its many workers/volunteers and organisers.
There is a video telling the story of how the transformation came about at http://www.centralparknyc.org/about/about-cpc/

Be Inspired by New York Road Runners. NYC.

Running in New York City is now a popular pastime, more and more people are becoming aware of the benefits of competing in races, running in NYC parks or walking. It includes all ages as a sociable, body and mind strengthening and often charitable exercise.
I read that New York Road Runners is an organization of non profit which helps and inspires local communities. Many events are held throughout the year, including several marathons, youth programmes, talks, classes, walking or running activities in parks etc.
The heartening work achieved is helping to promote community spirit, people's health awareness and youth exercise participation.
